Sun sextile Neptune
Sun sextile Neptune was exact at 5:18 AM PST. Neptune has a sensitizing and sometimes spiritualizing influence on whatever it contacts. In this case, the Sun is our sense of self. In combination with the Moon in Virgo most of the day, this is a good time to devote to service. Sun sextile Neptune acts to dissolve the Self. This dissolution can happen through mystical experiences, traveling to distant places, or success through sympathetic understanding of others. Once the self is abnegated, the soul wants to serve others. This is the Sun sextile Neptune path to happiness, to think of God’s will and others, rather than focusing on selfish concerns. In order to devote yourself to service and to helping others, you must meet God’s will through your own inner life. An inner life requires time alone. Space for peace, quiet, and solitary time is essential. I realize this is a real challenge for some people, maybe they don’t have the time or the space to cultivate their soul. Remember Virginia Woolf’s feminist classic, A Room of One’s Own? She was very much aware of the luxury of longing for conditions to foster creativity when some could barely foster survival: “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” The space and time required to develop an inner-life is well spent, whether you are cultivating creativity, meditation, or service. An inner-life, an imagination, is what sets our minds free from both the past and the future. We can move beyond our past and we can generate a new future when we are capable of going inside and imagining a different world. We can also empathize with others and their problems, rather than magnifying our own.
