We entered Mercury Direct this morning at 6:20 AM PDT. I am currently in lovely, but cold, Jackson Hole, Wyoming wrapping up the last day of our 2016 USA Yoga National Championship. If you would like to see what yoga competition looks like, then join us via our livestream link. We begin the day at 10:00 AM MDT. At around 10:15 we will feature a lovely youth demonstration and then the youth competitors will kick off the finals. I have experienced the good and the bad effects of the Retrograde this weekend. The good is seeing old friends that I usually only contact over email or the phone. The bad is the usual technical glitches. Everything went haywire from my email account going down to challenges with the scoring. We had lots of appeals and many, many last-minute posture changes. Along with Mercury Direct we had an aggravating Sun/Mars opposition at 4:17 AM. Mars is still in Retrograde motion so be careful not to turn the energy inward, or behave in a passive/aggressive manner.
More Mercury Direct
Mercury is a mischievous god, a trickster figure that is clever and fleet. Communication is an inexact thing, colored by our fears and assumptions. We build paranoid edifices around innocent actions because we think we understand each other. When Mercury slows down to turn around we have an opportunity to see our nimble minds at work. In the practice of mindfulness, we don’t try to change our thoughts or make them go away, we just notice them. That part of the mind that observes becomes stronger. When we strengthen the calm center that lies at our core, then we are less battered by the storms of our emotions. Times of intensity and disruption are precious opportunities for change.
Void Moon Times
The first Void is a good one in the sign of Sagittarius on Monday from 8:37 AM to 10:34 PM when it enters Capricorn. Take some time to recharge your optimism and outlook on life. The next is a bad Void in Capricorn from 6:11 PM on Wednesday night until entering Aquarius at 7:27 AM on Thursday morning. The final one is very brief and comes on Saturday from 1:19 PM to 2:06 PM, not even worth mentioning.
The Rest of the Week
Venus enters flirty Gemini on Tuesday at 2:45 AM. Love and Art will lighten up. That same day Venus opposes Mars at 7:38 PM amping up the sexual tension and possibly sparking some arguments. On Thursday, we have a difficult Jupiter/Saturn square at 5:28 AM. Jupiter expands and Saturn contracts. Jupiter is vision, and Saturn is limitation.
