Spring Equinox 2017
The Spring Equinox 2017 begins on Monday at 3:29 AM PDT when the Sun moves into Cardinal Aries. It is also International Astrology Day. I would like to thank you all for your kind words, encouragement, and helpful ideas. Especially Jason, who scheduled a reading with me, thus providing sufficient funds to keep my blog afloat. Though sometimes hasty and a little aggressive, Aries is full of the urgency and enthusiasm of new life. It takes a lot of force for the first green shoot to burst out of the earth or for the butterfly to escape the chrysalis. Aries is the energy of birth. Many different cultures celebrate the Spring Equinox 2017 in many forms. What they all have in common is the renewal of life that this season brings. On the Spring or Vernal Equinox, and the Fall or Autumnal Equinox, day and night are relatively equal in length. After this nights grow shorter and days longer, until we reach the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Mercury squares off with Pluto on Thursday at 5:45 PM inciting arguments and conspiracy theories. Early Friday morning, at 5:45 AM Mercury opposes Jupiter, ripe for exaggeration, arrogance, and fraud.
Early Saturday morning, at 3:17 AM, a very different influence of a Sun/Venus inferior conjunction holds sway, but don’t forget that Venus is still Retrograde until April 15th. In Erin Sullivan’s Retrograde Planets she describes the Mesoamerican myth explaining the Venus Retrograde cycle. At the start of the cycle Venus appears as the evening star when she goes stationary retrograde. At this point the Aztec’s believed that Venus took the form of a man and walked the earth, coupling with the goddess of love, Xochiquetzal. The fruit of this union is a sky monster. At the point of the inferior conjunction Venus loses a ball game played in the underworld and she is sacrificed by the Sun. Ultimately Venus is reborn as the morning star and is once again female in gender. When Venus rises from the underworld armies march to war.
We have a long Void on Wednesday in Capricorn from 6:20 AM until 7:28 PM when the Moon enters Aquarius. That’s a full day in which you want to avoid important appointments and purchases. I plan to clean and organize. That’s the only one to watch out for this week.
